THE
LORD’S PRAYER
This
prayer was given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ himself
when the apostles asked him to teach them how to pray
(of Luke 11.1-4. Mathew 6.9-13). Thus it has been a
part of the Church since the very beginning. The Didache
(1st-2nd century) commends the prayer to be recited
by the faithful three times during the day.
Our Father. who art in heaven.
hallowed be thy name:
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread:
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil,
For thyne is the kingdom, the power, and the glory
now and for ever.

Text
Our
Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us in the time of trial,
and deliver us from evil.
For
the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
